ABOUT SISTERHOOD

Suzanne Silverman, President

Todah to all who help us get the job done

We are very excited to announce that Rabbi Andrea Weiss, co-editor of the Women’s Torah Commentary, will be joining us at the Sisterhood Shabbat on May 30 and will co-lead Torah Study with Rabbi Malinger on Saturday morning, May 31, at 9:15 am. Rabbi Weiss will speak about the Women’s Torah Commentary and why it is an important contribution to Jewish tradition and study.

Please join us on May 30 to honor the members of Sisterhood that contribute so much to Temple Shalom:

Purim is long past, but thanks again to the wonderful women who baked over 3,000 hamantashen for shalach manot baskets.

Thanks to all of the Nursery School parents for helping to bake hamantashen with their children and to Debbie Worthington for baking with the Religious School students.

Sisterhood thanks all members who donated funds to support our mitzvah program that provided hamantashen to local seniors in assisted living facilities.

Thanks also to the dozens of volunteers, attendees and donors to our Spring Fashion Show. These fundraisers support the many scholarships and programs that Sisterhood sponsors throughout the year.

Some of Sisterhood’s activities are not advertised and many of our volunteers work quietly in the wings. One of these volunteers is Leisel Spencer. This month I’d like to offer a special thanks to Leisel who is kind enough to deliver plants to Jewish patients at Bayshore Hospital. She presents them with a smile and a note letting them know that Temple Shalom Sisterhood cares about their speedy recovery.

Sisterhood welcomes new members and women who want to get involved with our Board.  Whether you can volunteer one hour or many more, we can find a place to use your talents and energy. We will also provide free leadership training, event planning and public speaking tips. We are a dynamic group of women who express our Judaism through our involvement with community service and learning activities. Please join us!

If you would like to join Sisterhood or for more information, contact Suzanne Silverman or Rachel Robinson, Membership Chair.

 DON'T FORGET,

WITHOUT YOU WE ARE ONE WOMAN SHORT !!
