ABOUT SISTERHOOD

I am taking this opportunity to thank TEAM SISTERHOOD for the outstanding effort in generating $4,669.00 (as of this writing), in the fight against breast cancer.  Team Sisterhood is comprised of individuals who not only care about making a difference in the lives of those who are fighting this disease, but are encouraging their friends and family, to sponsor them.  This dedication means that The American Cancer Society receives every dollar raised, and it goes toward cancer research.  Bravo to each member for walking and saving lives!  Thank you to our sponsors and friends who helped us achieve this goal.  This number is beyond what we all thought was possible to donate, in such a short time.

The WRJ (Women of Reform Judaism) convention took place in Toronto, early in November.  I have returned with a lot of new ideas and great ways to guarantee that Sisterhood programs will be more inspiring than ever.  Please plan on joining us during the year at our next event.

In December, the Judaica shop will be open on December 6th, 7th and 13th to supply you with Chanukah gelt, jewelry, candles and gifts.  There will be extra dates available for pre-school shoppers, as well.  Please support Sisterhood and shop at your convenience.

Once again, I welcome everyone to join Sisterhood.  This is the year your ideas can become our programs. Let your voice be heard and your ideas challenge us.  Without you we are one woman short.

DON'T FORGET,

WITHOUT YOU, WE ARE ONE WOMAN SHORT !!

WHAT DOES SISTERHOOD MEAN TO YOU?

What does Membership in Sisterhood Mean to You?

Arriving at the kitchen on a Sunday or weekday morning and learning to fold pastry into hamantaschen triangles and seeing your children do the same thing.

  • Calling people on the phone and making a friend.
  • Learning something new in a group,  and your teacher is a bellydancer  or a tango instructor.
  • Finding out you’re part of the sandwich generation and what to do about it.
  • Going to the Post Office with a package of 50 phone cards and Chanukah greetings made by the Religious school, and mailing it to Iraq.
  • Selling Judaica to the Nursery school, Religious school  and their parents.
  • Learning about wine, tasting it with great food and having a party with Brotherhood.
  • Modelling the latest fashion or seeing your children model at the fashion show, and winning a gift basket you really wanted.
  • Sharing a Sisterhood Shabbat by attending a catered lunch and making either a bracelet, mezzuzah or a craft afterwards.
  • Giving away suits that you don’t use and helping someone else get an interview outfit from “Dress for Success”.
  • Walking to eradicate breast cancer or making a donation.

All of the above and more.
