The Sisterhood of Temple Shalom is part of the global connection of the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), the collective voice of Reform Jewish women. Our deeds are a collaborative effort of dedicated individuals within the Temple Shalom community and are a pillar upon which Temple Shalom depends. We provide financial, spiritual, educational, and emotional resources. Our guiding principle is always to be cognizant of women's issues and perspectives; to build bridges of inclusivity within the temple, the surrounding community and Klal Israel; and to always be cognizant that Torah is our guide.
From the Sisterhood President
This year was historical for reform Jewish women. We joined our congregation in the celebration of our bi-centennial, celebrated the centennial of Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). Locally, our support of the WRJ contributed to reparations in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Globally, our support of WRJ contributed to the efforts of WRJ in the advancement of pluralism in Israel, opening up the rights of women to serve and pray at the Kotel. It is an exciting and challenging time, as we strive to ensure a strong and powerful future for our Temple and for Reform Judaism globally.
