Kindergarten through 7th grade
Temple Shalom Religious School offers an exciting, integrated spiraling curriculum that includes studies in Jewish values, Torah, Jewish Holidays & Festivals, Israel, Prayer & God, Hebrew and more. Each year, our teachers guide our students as they add onto their knowledge of Judaism through discussion, multimedia and hands-on activities. Our students learn in a warm, nurturing Jewish community that creates lifelong friendships and lasting connections.
The objectives for Temple Shalom Religious School students include:
- Find joy in living a Jewish life
- Identify with the greater Temple Shalom Jewish community here, in Israel and throughout the world
- Develop a stronger integration between home and synagogue
- Understand Jewish holidays and the calendar
- Learn biblical stories and interpretative literature about Jewish values and history
- Learn Hebrew as a living language including conversational terms, blessings and songs
- Create familiarity with the prayers in the Siddur in order to participate in religious services
- Learn to put Jewish values into actions and decisions which promote justice, freedom and peace
Morehhsha
Monmouth Regional Reform Hebrew High School
For Students in Grades 8 through 12
The MOREHHSHa High School is run cooperatively by Temple Shalom and Temple Rodeph Torah. At MOREHHSHa, we believe that Jewish education is an ongoing process of claiming our heritage as our own. After all, not only does our name signify that ours is a Monmouth Regional Reform Hebrew High School, but the Hebrew word morasha itself means “heritage”, or “inheritance.” Our school provides a place where Jewish teenagers can claim their morasha and acquire the knowledge and skills to live as Jews in the 21st century. They can dream, explore, challenge, and investigate as they find the relevance of Judaism to their own search for a pathway through life.
There are two important life cycle events for which Hebrew High School prepares our students: Confirmation in 10th grade and Hebrew High School graduation in 12th grade. In addition, students in 10th grade make a trip to Washington, DC, where they study at the Union for Reform Judaism Religious Action Center and lobby government officials on Capitol Hill.
Our congregation and school are warm, welcoming and inclusive. I invite you to come and visit us.
