Springtime
Spring is an exciting time for the students in our Nursery School classrooms. Nature comes to life both outside and in our classrooms. We are so happy to be able to spend time outside for gross motor play and to observe the changes that take place in the spring. We will get to watch changes in our classrooms as we observe caterpillars becoming butterflies and larvae becoming ladybugs. We will wait for just the right weather to release the butterflies and ladybugs in the courtyard.
Throughout the year, the students of Temple Shalom Nursery School have learned about tikkun olam – the repairing of our world. They have learned how they can give to others through weekly tzedakah collections. This year for example, we taught the children about helping the hungry by contributing to Mazon, helping the blind by contributing to the Jewish Guild for the Blind, helping housebound seniors by contributing to Kosher Meals on Wheels and much more. On May 7, our year long lessons about how everyone can help to repair our world will culminate in a Mitzvah project for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The children will get pledges and participate in our annual MDA Hopathon. The Hopathon will provide the children with an opportunity to use their strong muscles for those who cannot. This program is based around three key principles: building awareness, teaching acceptance and motivation to help others. MDA has provided us with a wonderful, age appropriate curriculum to teach these principles during the week of the Hopathon.
School trips will resume with our Pre-K students going to the WonderWing at Monmouth Museum to learn about sea life. The 2 ½ and 3 year olds will celebrate the end of the school year with a trip to Party Gym. Our graduates will get on the school bus with us one last time to go on their Build A Bear graduation trip.
To our graduating families—This is always a bittersweet time for the staff at Temple Shalom Nursery School. We wish you the best as you begin the elementary school years with your children. We hope that you will remain a part of the Temple Shalom family. I hope to see you at Shabbat services, Religious School, holidays, festivals and social events. I look forward to sharing many simchas with you and your family. We thank you for giving us the opportunity to share this moment in time with you and your children. It is truly a gift.
Summer Camp Awaits!
Summer Camp is a great way for your children to remain connected to their Nursery School friends or to become a part of our Nursery School family.
